X-Men hockey announces cross-ice 3v3 program

ANTIGONISH, NS – X-Men hockey head coach Brad Peddle is pleased to announce the fifth annual Jr. X-Men cross-ice 3v3 program for 2013. The seven week program will begin on Monday, April 1st.

As in previous years, the 3v3 program is a great chance for young hockey players to spend time on the ice learning and honing new skills, as well as reinforcing skills they have learned over the course of the season. X-Men hockey promotes fun and creativity in a safe, controlled, supervised environment. Current StFX X-Men varsity players will be on the ice with the youth.

Goaltenders are encouraged to register as it provides a great chance to work on small-area puck stopping and puck control skills. Also, there is an emphasis on offensive creativity, and goalies will see a lot of shots, which will help their skills and confidence develop.

Each age group will have two 50-minute sessions every week, totaling 14 sessions. The cost of the program is $190. Included in the cost is a Jr. X-Men hockey practice jersey. All sessions are at the Charles V. Keating Centre in Antigonish, NS. The times for each age group are as follows.

NOVICE (2006/2005) – Mondays & Wednesdays 5:00 – 6:00 pm
ATOM (2004/2003) – Mondays & Wednesdays 6:00 – 7:00 pm
PEEWEE (2002/2001) – Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:00 – 6:00 pm
BANTAM (2000/1999) – Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00 – 7:00 pm

X-Men hockey also hope to continue the midget 4v4 full-ice program this year. Depending upon numbers and interest, it will be held on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7:00 – 8:00 pm during the same seven-week period.

Information regarding the 2013 Jr. X-Men peewee and bantam spring development programs will be released in the very near future.
