X-Women basketball forward Lia St. Pierre was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 17, 2013. Lia, a fourth year arts student (5th year eligibility) from Moncton, NB led the X-Women in three wins this past week. She scored a game-high 29 points Tuesday night in an 83-73 win at Dalhousie and also had 9 rebounds. In two weekend wins over UPEI, she scored a game-high 24 points Friday night, along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals, then topped off Saturday with 20 points and 4 rebounds, helping the X-Women improve to 11-7 on the season. She currently leads the team in scoring and is fifth overall in the AUS, averaging 16.6 ppg.

X-Men hockey forward Michael Kirkpatrick was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 17, 2013. Michael, a second year arts student from North Sydney, NS played two strong games for the X-Men in recent AUS playoff games. In a close 4-3 loss to UPEI at home on Wednesday night, Michael picked up one assist and was one of the leaders on the ice for the X-Men. In Friday’s heartbreaking 5-4 double overtime loss at UPEI, Michael scored the X-Men’s first goal of the game early in the second period to kick start their comeback, and also assisted on their game-tying goal. The 2011-12 AUS rookie of the year, he was one of the X-Men leaders on face-offs for both games.
