X-Women track and field short-distance runner Eilish MacQuarrie was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 20, 2013. Eilish, a second year Human Kinetics student from Antigonish, NS, ran two personal best times at the Athletics NS Open meet this past Saturday in Halifax. Eilish won the 600m race with a PB time of 1:38.17, and she finished second in the 300m dash, clocking a personal best of 42.18s. She is off to a successful start to the 2013 indoor season, picking of first place finishes in last week’s meet in Moncton in the same two events.

X-Men hockey forward Brennen Wray was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 20, 2013. Brennen, a fourth year Science student from Moose Jaw, Sask., picked up five points in two key weekend wins for the X-Men. In Friday’s 5-2 win over Dalhousie, Brennen was the player of the game, scoring two goals and assisting on another. In their 5-4 shootout victory over CIS No. 4 Saint Mary’s on Saturday, Brennen scored one goal and also had an assist on the game-tying goal. He is currently second in team scoring with 17 points on the season (6 goals, 11 assists).
