X-Men Subway Summer Hockey School set to go

ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX men’s hockey head coach Brad Peddle has announced that applications are now available for the upcoming 2011 X-Men Summer Hockey School.

“We are pleased to welcome back an outstanding staff that includes our X-Men coaches and players, along with guest instructors that will be on the ice during the week,” comments X-Men head coach and camp director Brad Peddle. “The X-Men Subway Summer Hockey School has been very successful and well received in the past due to our high-quality staff and the premier facilities at the Keating Centre and StFX University. This year we have added in an X-Out Bullying component so we are excited about that and we expect another great camp.”

The 10th annual camp will run from August 15-19 and August 22-26 and will feature a wide variety of programs for all skill levels. Week one features a high performance elite full day camp open to players in novice, atom, and peewee. In addition the following specialty camps are offered: minis program, goaltender camp and power skating (novice and atom).

Week two features the very popular ‘Skills, Drills and Fun’ full day development camp option for youth aged 6 to 13, along with the following specialized programs: stick handling camp, defensemen camp, goaltender camp and power skating (peewee, bantam and midget).

For the first time ever, X-Men hockey campers will participate in the X-Out Bullying program. Typically presented in local schools, the program will be modified to also address the many forms and issues of bullying as it relates to a youth’s minor hockey experience.
