Former St. Francis Xavier X-Men defenceman Sean Donovan has been named head coach of the Cape Breton West Islanders of the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.

Donovan, a native of Glace Bay, spent five seasons with the X-Men and was co-captain during his final two years at StFX. He wrapped up his university career in March with an AUS championship and a berth to the CIS University Cup. The X-Men defeated Saint Mary’s for the Atlantic banner but fell short in a their bid for a national title.

Prior to joining StFX., Donovan spent three seasons in the Maritime Junior Hockey League with the Antigonish Bulldogs.
