Hoop X-Men dominate Huskies in exhibition match

Halifax, NS – The STFX X-Men bested the Saint Mary's Huskies by 50 points in a lopsided 106-56 exhibition win in pre-season action Friday night.

STFX outpaced the Huskies 19-10 in the first quarter then had a dominant second quarter, putting 39 points on the board to the Huskies 18 to build up a 58-28 halftime lead.

Their strong offense continued in the third quarter as the blue and white shot 44.3% from field goal range in the game.

They won the second half 48-28 on route to the 106-56 win.

Five X-Men were in the double scoring digits, including Dondre Reddick with 19 points, along with 5 steals. Jeremiah Usiosefe scored 15 off the bench and Gatluak James netted 12 and had 4 rebounds.

Antoine Vernon and Bennett Grumbach each contributed 10 points in the win as Grumbach drained three baskets from beyond the arc.

Jonas Maerz was the top scorer for the Huskies with 12 points on the night.

The X-Men will be back in pre-season action when they travel to Sydney on Tuesday evening October 10th to take on the Cape Breton Capers.
