X-Men pick up second exhibition win of the weekend

Antigonish, NS – The STFX X-Men earned their second pre-season exhibition win of the weekend with a 104-47 decision over the University of King's College Blue Devils of the ACAA.

The X-Men opened up the game with an 11-3 lead in the first three minutes of play. They built up a 30-13 lead after the first quarter. Gatluak James netted eight points for X in the quarter.

STFX's high powered offense took over in the second quarter and they outscored the Blue Devils 24-14 to hold a convincing 54-27 lead at halftime.

Bennett Grumbach scored 10 points in the first half for STFX, while Ifesinachi Chiekwe replied with 10 for UKC.

The X-Men outpaced the Blue Devils 19-10 and 31-10 in the final two quarters en route to the win.

James finished with a game-high 18 points and had seven rebounds. Chieke was the high scorer for the Blue Devils with 15 points. Kibrom Kefte added 11.

For the X-Men, the scoring was spread across the team, with another four in the double-scoring digits. Grumbach had 14 points, including a pair of three pointers. Deon Ejim, Koat Thomas and Gloire Koua each scored 10. Ejim was the top rebounder with 10 on the afternoon.

The X-Men will be back in exhibition action on Friday, October 6th when they travel to Halifax to take on the Saint Mary's Huskies.
