Veterans Rod Madera and Will Donkoh led the StFX X-Men (1-1) with 15 points apiece in an 84-69 loss to the rival Cape Breton University Capers (1-1) in AUS basketball action Saturday night at Sullivan Field House in Sydney.

The Capers avenged a 75-72 loss to the same X-Men squad in Antigonish on Wednesday evening.

On Saturday in Cape Breton, the home team Capers got out to a 25-12 lead after the first quarter and the X-Men were not able to erase the deficit.

Cape Breton increased the lead to 46-26 at halftime.

StFX did hold the advantage in the second half as they outscored the Capers 43-38.

First-year X-Men guard Jameel Williamson also hit double figures for the X-Men with 11 points. He added a team-high five assists.

Madera led the blue and white with seven rebounds, while Alex Arthur chipped in four steals.

Dave Benoit contributed eight points off the bench for the X-Men.

Meshack Lufile led the Capers with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

The X-Men return to action Wednesday, Nov. 13, when they travel to Halifax to face the Saint Mary's Huskies. Game time is 8 p.m. at The Tower.
