Basketball athletes Roper and Dunn named athletes of the week

X-Women basketball post Kolbi Roper was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 19, 2012. Kolbi, a 2nd year Arts student from North Vancouver, BC, played three big games for the X-Women this past week. She led all scorers in a 72-57 win over CBU on Wednesday with 23 points and also had 7 rebounds and 3 steals. In the X-Women’s close 85-81 loss to UPEI on Friday night, Kolbi was the top X scorer with 21 points and had a double-double evening with 10 rebounds. She followed up Sunday afternoon with a 23 point, 5 rebound performance in their 88-72 win over UNB. She is currently third overall in AUS scoring, averaging 22.0 points/game.

X-Men basketball forward Jeremy Dunn was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 19, 2012. Jeremy, a fifth year Human Kinetics student from Wolfville, N.S. played three strong games for the X-Men this past week. In their close 88-83 loss to CBU on Wednesday, Jeremy was the top X-Men scorer with 32 points, and also added 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. In two weekend home wins, he was the top scorer in both games. In Friday night’s 104-73 victory over UPEI, Jeremy tallied 21 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal, then followed with a 27 point performance in Sunday’s 102-78 win over UNB, along with 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Jeremy is currently second in AUS scoring, averaging 23.8 points/game.
