Tigers outlast hoop X-Men
The X-Men basketball team dropped their second game in a row in AUS competition, losing 88-83 Tuesday night in Halifax to the Dalhousie Tigers.

The two teams played close throughout the majority of the game, with the 21-16 third quarter in favor of the Tigers the decider on the score sheet.

The home team Tigers held a 25-23 lead after the opening quarter and were up 48-45 at half-time. The Tigers began to pull away in the third quarter, leading by as much as 11 and closing out with a 69-61 lead after thirty minutes of play. The X-Men outscored the Tigers 22-19 in the fourth quarter, going down to the wire but just not able to close the gap and tie the game as Dalhousie hung on for the 88-83 win, their ninth of the season.

The Tigers were led by Subway player of the game Jumol Mullings who scored 19 points and added seven assists and three steals. William Yengue scored 18 points and had eight rebounds and four blocks, while Keith Robinson added 12 points, all from three-point range, including one with under a minute to play to give the Tigers a seven point edge.

Leading the X-Men was guard Will Donkoh who tied his season-high point tally of 23 points. He also contributed eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Jeremy Dunn scored 21 points for the X-Men, along with five rebounds, one block and a pair of steals. Rod Madera came off the bench to have a double-double night with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Jordan Clarke added 11 points.

With the loss, the X-Men drop to 7-9 on the season as they currently sit in fifth place in the AUS conference with 20 points, four back of fourth place Dalhousie (9-8) and UPEI (9-7). The Panthers are next up on the schedule as the X-Men travel to PEI for a pair of weekend games against the UPEI squad. Game time Friday night is 8:00 pm, followed by a 6:00 game on Saturday.
