X-Women basketball guard Vanessa Pickard was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 13, 2013. Vanessa, a second year Human Kinetics student from Riverview, NB, was the player of the game in the X-Women’s 82-55 win over Cape Breton on Tuesday. She scored a game-high 19 points and also had 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals. In Saturday night’s 77-74 win over UNB, Vanessa scored 16 points and had 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block and 3 steals. The 2011-12 CIS Rookie of the Year and AUS all-star recently returned to the X-Women lineup after an injury.

X-Men basketball guard Jordan Clarke was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 13, 2013. Jordan, a fourth year Human Kinetics student from Oakville, ON, shot 64% from the floor in the X-Men’s past two games. In Tuesday’s close 77-72 loss to Cape Breton, he scored a team-high 18 points and also had 4 rebounds and 4 assists. On Saturday night’s 91-75 win over UNB, Jordan scored 15 points and had 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal for the X-Men. He is currently third in team scoring, averaging 10.2 points/game.
