X-Men vs Capers basketball preview
The StFX X-Men basketball team will travel to Sydney, NS on Wednesday, February 15th to take on their arch rival, the Cape Breton Capers at 8:00pm. The X-Men sit two points ahead of the Capers for first place in the conference and will be looking to distance themselves from the rest of the pack. The game is worth two points in the standings.

X-Men:   12-4 record with 32 points, tied for first place in the AUS conference

Capers:  10-6 record with 30 points, third in the AUS conference

X-Men vs Capers:  The CIS ranked No. 8 X-Men own a 2-1 record against the Capers so far this season. The X-Men beat Cape Breton in the first game of the regular season 88-69 back on November 9th, 2011 in Antigonish, then the Capers earned a 101-88 victory on Jan. 11, 2012 in Sydney. In their last meeting, the X-Men won 90-71 on January 21st in Antigonish. The two teams usually draw large crowds as they are competitive rivals in this conference.

Key Players:  The Capers are led by conference leading scorer and CIS No. 3 ranked Jimmy Dorsey, who averages 23.1 points per game along with 7.9 rebounds a game, good enough for fifth in the league for the hosts. Dorsey recently had a huge game, collecting 49 points in a 111-106 win over Acadia. Al Alilovic is also a very valuable player for the Capers, sitting 10th overall in the conference in points per game, averaging 16.3 and 10th overall in rebounding averaging 6.7 a game. The X-Men have been led all season by Terry Thomas who is third in AUS points per game, at an 18.9 clip while Jeremy Dunn is eighth in league scoring averaging 17.2 points per game.

Game Notes: CIS third ranked scorer Jimmy Dorsey was not in the lineup for the Capers the last time these two teams clashed.

The Capers are first in the nation in assists per game, fourth in free throws made per game and fifth in points per game.

The X-Men are third in blocks per game and eighth in steals per game in the country.
