Subway STFX Male Athlete of the Week

X-Men Hockey center Declan Smith was named STFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 18, 2024. Declan, a fifth year Business student from Antigonish, NS, scored four goals in two playoff wins against Acadia to help lead the X-Men to a 2-0 quarterfinal series sweep. In Wednesday’s 4-3 win in triple overtime, Declan scored the first two goals of the game and earned first star and player of the game honours. He followed up Saturday by scoring the game-tying goal on the power play with only 1:13 left in the game, and scored the game-winning and series-winning goal in the fourth overtime period.
