The X-Women soccer team retained their third place position in the AUS standings after a 1-0 win over Acadia Friday night and a 3-0 loss to Dalhousie Saturday evening.

In Friday’s victory in Wolfville, NS, the X-Women outshot the Axewomen by a substantial 16-1 margin. Their lone goal in the 65th minute was the only one needed for the win as freshman Alex Bruch scored an unassisted goal, her first of the season.

Keeper Anna Thompson earned the shutout victory in nets for StFX, her fourth win of the season and fifth game without allowing a goal against. Leisha Boyle took the loss for the Axewomen.

On Saturday night in Homecoming action at StFX Oland Stadium, the first place Dalhousie Tigers were too much to handle for the X-Women as the Tigers played to a 3-0 win, improving to 6-0-2 atop the AUS standings.

Emma Landry scored the first goal of the game in the 48th minute, off a cross by former X-Woman Sarah Mitchell. Katie Richard then scored the Tigers next two goals, the first coming in the 54th minute to establish a 2-0 half-time lead, and her second coming late in the game in the 88th minute off a breakaway.

The Tigers outshot the X-Women 4-1 in the game and Taryn McKenna earned the win in nets. Thompson took the loss for StFX.

Dalhousie (6-0-2) remains in first place in the AUS with 20 points, followed closely by UPEI (5-0-3) with 18 points. The X-Women (4-2-2) with 14 points in third place are two points ahead of Cape Breton (4-3-0). After a break from play over the Thanksgiving weekend, the X-Women will meet Cape Breton in Sydney on Oct. 17th.
