X-Women soccer defender Meaghan Ramsden is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Meaghan recently completed her second year with the X-Women and is a Human Kinetics student from Ottawa, ON.

What brought you to StFX?
A lot of things brought me to StFX.  The great soccer players, coach and program was a huge part for me, along with an awesome Human Kinetics department and a phenomenal reputation for being a close-knit school full of community spirit. Everything pointed me towards X and it’s definitely lived up to its reputation.

What has been your best moment in a StFX uniform so far?
Definitely winning the AUS title in my first year! Playing in the hail into overtime with one of our players having to be taken off due to hypothermia, winning that game with that team had to be by far the best moment for me...so far!

What are you most looking forward to this season?
I'm really looking forward to meeting all the new players and starting another amazing season with the team! Hopefully we can bring the banner back home again!

Who has been the most influential person in your life (and why)?
Besides my parents, my brother has probably been the most influential person in my life. He's an extremely hard worker at everything he does from sports to school, and is my biggest competition in everything!

One thing I cannot live without is…?
My family. They are my biggest supporters as well as some of the funniest and greatest people I know.

My dream vacation destination is…?
Australia, for sure. I’d love to soak up some sun down under. I hope to travel around Australia for a little while, once I’m done my degree at X.

Tell us one thing that fans may not know about you?
My favourite place to be during the summer is up at my cottage hanging out with all my family and friends. Either up at the log house winding my way through a packed kitchen or down at the lake trying not to tip the canoe.
