X-Women soccer defender Ellissa Riel was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 19, 2008. Ellissa, a third year Arts student from Kingston, ON was the Player of the Game Friday in the X-Women’s 0-0 tie with first place and reigning CIS champion Cape Breton. She has played very solid soccer on the back field for the X-Women all year, and was a big part of their 2-0 win over UPEI Sunday which clinched them an AUS playoff berth. 

X-Men football quarterback Steve Snyder was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 19, 2008. Steve, a fourth year Arts student from London, ON completed 3 touchdown passes in the X-Men’s 31-20 win over Acadia this past weekend, helping them clinch second place overall in the AUS. He was 20 for 33 in completions for a total of 379 passing yards, and also had 7 carries for 62 yards.
