Several X runners post PB times at Boston meet

Six STFX athletes competed at the 2023 Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational meet in Boston on Friday and Saturday, including five X-Women and one X-Men student-athlete.

Friday featured all of the female events and STFX had racers in three different events. The annual meet features a large number of track athletes from multiple NCAA and U SPORTS schools.

Brynn Hebert competed in the 1000m race and finished with a time of 2:52.59 in 21st position overall amidst a field of 99 racers. The time was a personal best for the second year runner from Wetaskiwin, AB and was fifth best overall in X-Women history in the event.

Caroline Ash (Newmarket, ON) raced in the women's mile and posted a personal best time of 5:04.27 in 170th spot in the large field of 288 racers.

Three X-Women competed in the 3000m race that featured a field of 283. Eileen Benoit (Windsor, NS) was 139th with a personal best time of 9:55.81. It was also the fifth best time in X-Women history in the 3K. Also finishing was Allie Sandluck (Thorburn, NS) in 165th with a 10:01.28 result, and Mairin Canning (Antigonish, NS) in 182nd with a personal best result of 10:05.74.

Saturday featured all of the men's events and STFX had lone competitor and veteran runner Jacob Benoit (Windsor, NS) race in the men's mile. He finished with a 4:12.14 time in the top half of the large field of 432 runners, in 199th spot overall.

Next up on the schedule for the X-Men and X-Women runners is the Subway AUS Championship, taking place February 24th and 25th in Saint John, NB.
