Antigonish, NS - The youthful Dalhousie Tigers squad, starting eight rookies, gave a seasoned X-Men squad as good as they got Friday afternoon at STFX Stadium as the X-Men earned a 2-1 victory in the first pre-season exhibition match of the season for both squads.

Fergus Hall (Campbell River, BC) opened the X-Men's account after a period of good play from the X-Men, tallying in the 57th minute.

The X-Men continued to put the Tigers under pressure and they could only bend for so long and the dam finally broke when Tigers conceded an own-goal in the 63rd minute to put the X-Men up by two goals.

The Tigers cut the deficit in half on a goal by rookie Kyle Routledge (Halifax, NS) in the 80th. Dalhousie continued to press and there were shouts for a penalty against a StFX player but the referee did not point to the spot and the X-Men maintained their one goal lead to the final whistle, earning 2-1 victory.

DAL face Acadia in their next pre-season game in Wolfville on Monday at 2pm.

The X-Men will travel to Charlottetown on Monday to face UPEI in the Mulligan Cup at 2pm.
