Sackville, NB – The StFX X-Men played to a convincing 6-1 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday afternoon.

StFX was led by Subway player of the game Tane Caubo who scored three goals in the game.

X-Men head coach Graham Kennedy noted, "We played 17 guys today and had excellent contributions from everyone. Tane Caubo caught fire with three excellent goals. We gave up a late goal but overall we have to happy with our goal output."

The first strike came 14 minutes in from Caubo, then he set up Dan Hayfield three minutes later to give the X-Men an early 2-0 lead.

Caubo scored again at the end of the first half in extra time, as did William Warren to give the X-Men a 4-0 advantage at halftime.

Caubo netted his third goal of the afternoon in the 53rd minute and Mac Murray rounded out the X-Men scoring in the 74th minute off a feed from Carson Ripoll.

The Mounties goal came in the 74th minute from Ziad Abdelrahman to break the shutout by X keeper William Venoit. Venoit had five saves in the game as the X-Men outshot their opponents 21-12. They had 18 shots on goal to the Mounties 7.

With the win the X-Men improve to 3-1-0 on the season. They will take to the road for another game tomorrow against the only opponent to defeat them so far this season, UNB.

Coach Kennedy comments, "Tomorrow's game against UNB will be a tough test on the road against a fresh team. However we're looking forward to the challenge and hope to bounce back from our loss to them in week one." Game time is 3:15 pm in Fredericton.
