Moncton, NB – The Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus earned a 5-4 overtime comeback victory over the STFX X-Men Saturday evening at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in pre-season exhibition play.

Mika Cyr tied the game with 1:28 left to play in the third period then set up Yann-Felix Lapointe for the game winner 40 seconds into overtime.

The teams were tied 1-1 after one period of play as Logan Chisholm scored for X early in the game on the power play and Samuel Guilbault replied for Moncton.

The X-Men scored 15 seconds apart early in the second period off markers from Jacob Hudson and Zack Trott to take a 3-1 lead, but Moncton replied a minute and a half later to pull to within a goal.

Matthew Struthers put the X-Men up by two again with a power play goal at 8:07, but William Basque tallied with 41 seconds left in the period to close the gap to 4-3 in favour of the X-Men after 40 minutes.

It looked like the X-Men were skating to victory as they held off the Aigles Bleus for the majority of the third period before Cyr found the back of the net.

The visiting X-Men held a 34-24 shot advantage in the game as Moncton netminder Etienne Montpetit posted 29 saves on the night for the win.

The game marked the second and final one on the pre-season schedule for the X-Men who had a pair of games cancelled due to the recent hurricane in the Maritime region.

STFX was scheduled to open AUS regular season play at home on Wednesday night, October 5th, but due to the hurricane and extended power outages to the Antigonish region, the STFX Keating Centre lost their ice surfaces and is in the process of remaking the ice.

The October 5th game versus Saint Mary's will be re-scheduled later this season as the X-Men will now begin regular season play on the road, travelling to Wolfville, NS on October 8th to face-off against Acadia. Puck drop is 7:00 pm.
