X-Women hockey forward Erin Brophy was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 6, 2013. Erin, a fourth year Arts student from Antigonish, NS, tallied 5 points in two weekend wins with the CIS No. 6 X-Women. In Saturday’s 2-1 win over Moncton, she scored their first goal and assisted on the game winner, earning player of the game honors. Erin scored one goal and added two assists in StFX’s 6-1 win over CIS No. 10 St. Thomas on Sunday. After returning to the lineup from an injury, Erin is currently tied for third overall in AUS scoring with 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists) in only 8 games played.

X-Men hockey forward Murdock MacLellan was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 6, 2013. Murdock, a fourth year Science student from Mabou, NS, tallied five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in two weekend wins for the X-Men. In Friday night’s 5-1 win over Moncton, Murdock scored one goal and had two assists, then followed up with a one goal, one assist performance in Saturday night’s 3-0 shutout victory over St. Thomas. The X-Men captain has scored 11 points to date (2 goals, 9 assists) in 18 games played and has been a key contributor in keeping the X-Men close to the leaders in the tight AUS standings.
