AntigonishÕs David Bond commits to X-Men football

ANTIGONISH, NS – X-Men football head coach Gary Waterman is pleased to announce the commitment of local defensive lineman David Bond to the X-Men football program.

“We are thrilled with the commitment of David Bond,” comments Waterman. “He is a local athlete who we have had the opportunity to see for several years now. He has been at our summer camps and we were able to see firsthand his motor skills and tenaciousness. The sky is the limit in terms of his potential.”

The 6’3”, 285 pound Antigonish, N.S. native played with the Dr. J. H. Gillis high school and was a member of the U18 Nova Scotia provincial team for the past two summers.

This past season Bond received the best defensive player award from his high school squad, and was named a Nova Scotia first team defensive all-star. While attending the X-Men football summer camp in 2012, Bond was honored with the camp’s best defensive award and was named the most valuable player.

“Playing for StFX means a lot to me,” comments Bond. “Ever since I went to my first X-Men camp I felt like I was a part of the X family, and those bonds grew throughout my football career. I am very proud to be putting on the StFX jersey in my home town of Antigonish this season and I can’t wait to get on the field.”
