Peggy Gallant enters the Sports Hall of Fame as a coach, administrator, and educator at StFX. Her 40 year involvement in sport has had a tremendous impact on X Athletics. Her extensive coaching career included volleyball, field hockey and soccer. As the driving force that brought StFX women’s soccer to varsity status, Peggy led the XWomen to StFX’s first AUAA women’s soccer championship in 1986. In addition to her dedication to the growth and development of women’s sport on campus, she was also very active coaching in the Antigonish community. Peggy’s outstanding involvement in sport has been recognized by Sport Nova Scotia in 1996 and she was also elected to the Canadian Olympic Committee as a ‘B’ member. In 2005 Peggy received the prestigious award as one of the Most Influential Women in Sport from the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport.
