X-Men run to first place at Moncton meet

Moncton, NB – The StFX X-Men continue their winning ways, picking up the team title at the Universite de Moncton Invitational meet Saturday afternoon.

The X-Men claimed the title with 17 points and Scott Donald (Ottawa, ON), Alex Cyr (Abram-Village, PE) and Calvin DeWolfe (Bridgewater, NS) finishing first, second and third. Donald crossed the line with a winning time of 25:55. Cyr clocked in at 26:04 and DeWolfe completed the 8k race in 26:18.

Rounding out the team scores were Dalhousie in second place with 47 points and UNB in third with 100, followed by Memorial (108), Moncton (147), Saint Mary's (179), UPEI (185) and St. Thomas (201).

The X-Men had four more runners place in the top ten within the AUS competitors, slotted in fifth through eighth. Lee Wesselius (River Glade, NS) was fifth with a time of 26:32, followed by Alex Neuffer (Stratford, PE) at 26:41, Angus Rawling (Calgary, AB) at 24:46 and Riley Johnston (Pembroke, ON) at 26:49.

Also competing for the X-Men in Moncton were Paul MacLellan (Antigonish, NS), 12th, 27:30, Nick Favero (Rockland, ON) 15th, 27:59, Ed MacDonald (Antigonish, NS) 16th, 28:00, Ryan O'Regan (Cornwall, PE) 20th, 28:55 and Matt Eliot (Kingston, ON) 31st, 29:40.

The X-Men will have a weekend off before competing in the Subway AUS Championship, slated or Saturday, October 31st in Fredericton as hosted by St. Thomas University. StFX are the four-time defending conference champions.
