X-Women race to fifth place finish in Quebec

Quebec City – The X-Women cross country team raced on the Plains of Abraham Saturday in an interlock meet hosted by the Universite de Laval. Out of 12 teams, the StFX squad faired fifth overall.

The 6km race featured 107 runners from AUS and RSEQ schools. The host Laval team took the top spot with 38 points. McGill was second with 50 and Dalhousie came third with 107. The Universite de Montreal placed ahead of the X-Women's 114 points with 107 and Sherbrooke was sixth with 158.

Rounding out the team standings were Trinity College (182), Concordia (227), UQTR (266), UNB (278), UQAM (290) and UQAC (299).

A pair of McGill runners, Melanie Myrand and Jullien Flynn, placed first and second with times of 21:53 and 22:01. Montreal's Mathilde Sagnes was third at 22:31.

The top X-Women and top AUS runner was Hana Marmura who crossed the finish line in ninth place overall, running a time of 23:25.

Leah Gouthro (24:08) placed 28th and Catherine Thompson (24:24) was 33rd.

Rounding out the StFX finishers were Kendra MacNeil (24:41, 38th), Jasmine DeZeeuw (24:46, 39th), Victoria Sandre (24:55, 45th), Rachel MacDougall (25:02, 46th), Teagan Moxam (25:26, 57th) and Olivia MacDonald (25:31, 58th).
