ANTIGONISH, NS - Les Moncton Aigles Bleues defeated the STFX X-Women 3-2 in AUS women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at STFX Stadium.
Moncton striker Lalou Dilhac helped put the visitors on the board halfway through the opening half, chasing down a ball and passing over to an open Ariane Rioux for the opening goal. Dilhac added another for Moncton two minutes later, breaking in a lone and hitting the back of the net.
STFX rookie Olivia Thompson put the home side on the board 10 minutes before halftime, smashing one from distance off a pass from Avril Jamieson.
Bryn Canning dew the X-Women even with a free kick blast with under 20 minutes to go.
Alexane Dupuis put away a one-touch header off a long ball from Joelle Richard to clinch the game for Moncton with 10 minutes left to play.
Rioux received player of the game honors for Moncton, while Canning picked up the Gabriel Pizza Player of the Game award for STFX.
The X-Women head to Sydney on October 3, for a 5 p.m. clash with the CBU Capers.
