X-Women Soccer welcome Sarah Taylor to coaching staff

(Antigonish, NS) – StFX X-Women Soccer head coach Graham Kennedy is pleased to announce the addition of Sarah Taylor to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2021 season.

"It is important for our X-Women have credible female leadership on our staff and Sarah Taylor brings that," notes Coach Kennedy. "Sarah has a playing pedigree that includes national team caps and NCAA playing experience - she understands the collegiate game. She also has a teaching and coaching background so I know she will be remarkable resource for our X-Women."

A native of Conquerall Mills, N.S., Taylor played at Boise State University where she earned a double major with Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Pre-Medical Studies degrees. While at Boise State, she captained her team in her final two seasons (2016 and 2017), and served as the Chair of the Mountain West Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) for one year. Taylor was honoured as an All-Mountain West second team conference all-star in 2017, along with receiving accolades as a two-time Academic All-Mountain West athlete, and a 2014 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete award winner.

The midfielder spent time with the Canadian U-20 national team, competing at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Papua New Guinea. She received the Nova Scotia Female Athlete of the Year award in 2017.

Sarah is also a recent Education graduate from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax where she served in an assistant coaching role capacity with their women's soccer team. She has extensive coaching and volunteering experience with several Nova Scotia minor soccer associations over the years.

Taylor will be joining the X-Women Soccer program in mid-August and notes that she is "absolutely thrilled to become a part of the StFX family."

"I have heard amazing things about the athletes, coaching staff, professors and the University and I am looking forward to working with Graham Kennedy and this group of student-athletes to achieve our goal of a championship!"
