X-Women remain unbeaten with win over Huskies

Halifax, NS - On the strength of three second-half goals, the first-place StFX X-Women (5-0-1) earned a 3-0 road win over the Saint Mary's Huskies (1-5-1) in AUS soccer action Saturday afternoon.

In the 46th minute, freshman midfielder Alex Gosse (Bedford, NS) opened the scoring, on a set-up from senior forward Mary MacDonald (Kingston, ON).

Sophomore midfielder Chloe Brennan (Brookside, NS) doubled the X-Women advantage with a marker in the 69th minute.

In the 90th minute, freshman midfielder Erica van Wyk (Kanata, ON) wrapped up the scoring.

The X-Women outshot the Huskies 12-7 in the contest.

Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Visser (Whitby, ON) made three saves for the shutout and her fifth victory of the regular season.

Ashley Blank (Dartmouth, NS) made four saves for the Huskies.

The X-Women will be back on the pitch Sunday, Oct. 4, when they host the Acadia Axewomen.

The StFX Homecoming 2015 match-up is set for 1 p.m. at Oland Stadium.
