X-Women and Panthers play to 1-1 draw

The StFX X-Women played to a 1-1 draw with the UPEI Panthers Sunday afternoon in Charlottetown in AUS action.

In wet conditions, the two teams exchanged first half goals and were kept scoreless in the second half.

Fourth year forward Maura Woodman (Halifax, NS) scored the lone goal for the X-Women unassisted in the 16th minute. It was her first of the season.

Emilie Pelletier replied just four minutes later for the Panthers to tie the game.

Both teams were unable to find the back of the net in the second half and the game ended in the 1-1 deadlock.

First year netminder Erin Visser (Whitby, Ont.) was in nets for the X-Women, making three saves, while Ashley McKenna handled the goalkeeping chores for the Panthers with five saves on the afternoon.

The X-Women currently have a 2-0-1 record and are tied for third place in the AUS conference with the Panthers. Next on the schedule is a Friday night game in Wolfville, N.S. versus the Acadia Axewomen (2-0-2), followed by a Sunday afternoon match against Dalhousie (1-1-1) at StFX Oland Stadium at 1:00 pm.

The Panthers (2-1-1)will travel to New Brunswick for games against UNB and Moncton, also on Friday and Sunday.
