Antigonish, NS - The U SPORTS No. 7 ranked STFX X-Women dropped the Moncton Aigles Bleues 9-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Charles V Keating Centre.

A number of X-Women had multi-point nights, with STFX forward Lea MacLeod (Dartmouth, NS) earning Subway player of the game honors with two goals, while third star Lauren Dabrowski (Tiny, ON) notched a goal and two assists.

AUS leading scorer Maggy Burbidge (Falmouth, NS) added to her season total with a goal and two assists, while her linemate Chloe Vukosa (Mississauga, ON) scored a goal and had one helper.

Second star STFX goalie Jamie Johnson (Victoria, BC) had 28 saves on the night. The win improves the X-Women's record to (19-5-3).

MacLeod opened the scoring for the home team with just under three minutes gone, stealing the puck and banking a shot in off the Moncton netminder Audrey Berthiaume (St-Bruno, QC).

STFX added another about five minutes later, with Kamdyn Switzer (Stittsvile, ON) getting the last stick on the puck after a scramble in front of the UdeM net.

Moncton produced a few chances on the powerplay shortly after the second goal, but Johnson stood tall in the STFX net, evening turning aside a breakaway chance about midway through the stanza. The X-Women spent much of the rest of the period pressing for more goals, and were rewarded with Vukosa wiring one home after breaking in on a two-on-one.

Shots at the end of the first 20 minutes were 17-7 in favour of STFX as they lead 3-0 on the scoreboard.

STFX kept up the high paced offence in the second period, increasing their lead by two goals in the first two minutes. Pitts pounced on a rebound from a point shot with 1:14 gone, and MacLeod made it a 5-0 game just over 30 seconds later on the powerplay with her second marker of the afternoon.

After a spark of life from Moncton, STFX again scored two quick ones with Chloe Oleksiuk (Winnipeg, MB) and Dabrowski finding the net within 17 seconds of one another five minutes after the previous burst. Berthiaume was replaced in the Aigles Bleues net by Annick Boudreau (Memramcook, NB) following the X-Women scoring burst.

Moncton captain Isadora Quirion (Saint-Gedeon de Beauce, QC) put her team on the board at 7:29, with a power play goal.

STFX got the last word in the period though, with Abby Lewis (Kanata, ON) scoring her first of the season to make it a five goal second period with just less than two minutes left to play.

Shots at the end of the period were 26-20 in favour of the X-Women who held an 8-1 lead.

It was Moncton scoring first in the third period, with Shani Rossignol (Notre Dame de Lourdes, NB) hitting pay dirt while shorthanded with almost seven minutes gone.

However, Burbidge replied for SFFX less than two minutes later, one-timing a slapper on the powerplay, rounding out the scoring for the game.

Shots at the end of the game were 37-30 in favour of STFX.

The X-Women return to home ice on Wednesday to host the Dalhousie Tigers. Moncton is also on the ice on Wednesday when they will head to Halifax to take on the Saint Mary's Huskies.
