Antigonish, NS - The U SPORTS 8th ranked STFX X-Women remained undefeated at home, with a 4-1 win over the Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday night at the Keating Centre.

The victory came on 'Hockey Gives Blood' night as X-Women forward Anna MacCara (Yellowknife, NWT) led a fundraising initiative to raise funds for Canadian Blood Services as an ambassador.

Lauren Dabrowski (Tiny, ON) had a three-point night with two goals and an assist to lead the way for the X-Women, earning Subway Player of the game honours. STFX goalie Amaya Giraudier (Assiniboia, SK) had 16 saves in the game for the win.

X-Women forward Maggy Burbidge (Falmouth, NS) got the scoring going on a two player advantage, with the assists coming from Dabrowski and Ella VandeSompel (London, ON) with about six minutes gone in the game.

Lea MacLeod (Dartmouth, NS) increased the lead to two with a long shot from the point with just over a minute left to play in the first.

The two teams battled hard in the second period, with X getting the majority of scoring chances and shots, but it was Mount A first on the board with Island Bernard-Docker (Canmore, AB) scoring on the powerplay for the visitors at the 12:39 marker.

STFX regained their two-goal lead less than a minute later though, with Dabrowski skating in from the point to put one home. Chloe Vukosa (Mississauga, ON) and Kya Moss (Port Moody, BC) assisted.

Mount A goalie Hanna Pagdato (Winnipeg, MB), who finished with 38 saves on the night, kept the game close, making a number of big stops for her squad. Shots at the end of the period were 30-7 in favour of the X-Women.

Dabrowski added her second goal of the game on the powerplay in the third period, with a shot from the point at 8:35. It was the only goal of the third stanza, with X holding the lion's share of possession. Shots at the end of the game were 42-18 in favour of the white and blue.

Dabrowski was named the first star of the game, with Moss getting the nod for second star, and Bernard-Docker named the third star.

With the win, the X Women's record improves to 7-1-1, while the Mounties remain winless.

The Mounties host UPEI on Wednesday. The X Women next take to the ice on November 11, when they will host St. Thomas.
