X-Women happy to report signing of defenceman Vivian Hinch

Antigonish, NS - StFX X-Women Hockey head coach Ben Berthiaume is excited to announce the commitment of defender Vivian Hinch for the 2021-22 season. Vivian is a 5'11" left-handed defence from Vancouver, B.C. For the past two seasons, Hinch has played with the Greater Vancouver Comets of the BC Midget AAA League. This year, she'll be playing for the Fraser Valley Rush.

Known as a well-rounded defender, Hinch is mobile, physical and distributes the puck well. When asked to assess Hinch's play, Coach Berthiaume notes, "Vivian possesses a combination of size, power and skating ability. She defends with an edge, sees the ice well and can make a crisp breakout pass or rush the puck. We see Vivian as having a very high ceiling and with her size and tools, she has the potential to be an impact player for many years with the X-Women. In addition to her abilities, Vivian is very personable, energetic and her personality is another great asset that will be welcomed to our program."

Vivian will pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in either Social Justice or Women's & Gender Studies. She joins forward Kamdyn Switzer (Stittsville, ON) in the recruiting class of 2021.
