X-Women hockey sign first defence recruit for 2020-21 season with Olivia Sutton

ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX X-Women hockey head coach Ben Berthiaume is pleased to report the signing of defenceman Olivia Sutton for the 2020-21 season.

A 5'10" left-hand defenceman from Calgary, Alta., Sutton plays for the Edge School for Athletes of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League. In 20 league games played, she has three goals and seven assists. Prior to playing at the Edge School for Athletes, Sutton played minor hockey in the Calgary Fire system. She is the daughter of former NHLer Ken Sutton.

When asked about the most recent addition to the X-Women program, Coach Berthiaume noted the following, "Throughout the season, Olivia has made steady gains and has become a solid shut-down defender. She uses her size and reach well to take time and space away from opponents. As well, Olivia's puck moving skills and vision are strong, which will help her make the transition to the university level. We are looking forward to working with Olivia every day and seeing her develop and compete."

Sutton will be studying Business Administration at StFX this fall. She joins previously announced 2020--21 recruits (all forwards) Kristen Marshall (Whitby, ON), Chloe Oleksiuk (Winnipeg, MB), Abby Lewis (Kanata, ON) and McKiya Mazur (Russell, MB).
