X-Women Hockey add first recruit from Manitoba

ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX X-Women hockey coach Ben Berthiaume is pleased to announce the commitment of Chloe Oleksiuk from Winnipeg, Manitoba for the 2020-21 season.

Oleksiuk is a 5'5" forward in her third year with St. Mary's Academy Prep, who play in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League. Besides playing with the SMA Flames, Chloe was a two-time member of Team Manitoba, playing at both the Canada Games and the Canadian U18 female national championship.

In 12 games this season, Chloe has four goals and 10 assists. Known for her strong two-way play, quickness and skill set, Oleksiuk has experience playing both wing and centre.

When asked to comment on the latest addition to the 2020-21 X-Women squad, Coach Berthiaume had many positives to draw on. "Chloe is a tireless worker, first and foremost, which is exactly what we are seeking in players we are recruiting."

"She is a responsible player on both sides of the puck and will help us offensively as well. On her recruit trip, Chloe showed character and maturity, which will help her transition to the next level with us. She has an extensive background playing for her province and has played against the best players in Canada on a number of occasions. We look forward to Chloe joining us in September and seeing her compete as a member of X-Women Hockey."

Chloe has been accepted into the Bachelor of Arts and Science Health Studies program and hopes to continue into Biomedical Studies in the future.
