Antigonish, N.S. - The StFX X-Women (2-2) skated to a 4-2 win over the visiting Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (1-2-1) Sunday afternoon at the Keating Centre in AUS regular season hockey action.

Early in the first period, at 2:23, freshman Janelle Graham (Dieppe, NB) gave the visitors a 1-0 lead, unassisted, on the power-play, when she beat X-Women goaltender Carley Molnar (London, ON).

At 10:58 senior forward Daley Oddy (Cranbrook, BC) notched the equalizer for the home side. Senior defender Nicole Corcoran (Bloomfield, PE) chipped in an assist on the short-handed goal.

At 9:00 of the second period, the X-Women took their first lead on the second marker of the match-up from Oddy. On a 2-on-1, junior Sarah Bujold (Riverview, NB) fed fifth-year senior Kara Power (New Glasgow, NS), who rang a shot off the goal post behind Moncton goaltender Gabrielle Forget (Joliette, QC). Oddy gobbled up the rebound and put it home.

Molnar left the game, in the second period, with an injury and was replaced by Pascale Daigle (Irishtown, NB).

In the third period, at 13:36, the X-Women made it 3-1, when sophomore Lydia Schurman (Summerside, PEI) tallied off a goal-mouth scramble. Sophomore forward Emily Power (Airdrie, AB) notched the lone assist.

On a later power play, at 18:10, Moncton sliced the deficit in half, with Marie-Pier Corriveau (Magog, QC) finding the back of the net, after a couple big saves from Daigle. After the puck came right to her stick, the junior forward deposited it into the open side for the unassisted tally.

Moncton got no closer, with Bujold sealing the deal for the X-Women, at 19:23, on an empty-net goal. Kara Power and freshman defender Lindsey Donovan (Miramichi, NB) garnered the helpers.

Molnar made four saves for the X-Women, while Daigle, in relief, turned aside 22 shots to earn the victory.

Forget made 15 stops for Moncton in the loss.

Oddy was named first star and Subway player of the game, while Kara Power and Katherine Dubuc (Victoriaville, QC) earned second and third star nods, respectively.

Both teams will return to action Friday, Oct. 28, with the X-Women hosting the U Sports #3-ranked Saint Mary's Huskies, while Moncton will welcome the #5-ranked St. Thomas Tommies.

Puck drop for both match-ups is 7 p.m.
