(Halifax, NS) - The Dalhousie Tigers defeated the StFX X-Women 3-1 in AUS women's hockey action on Thursday night at the Halifax Forum. Jessica Severeyns stood tall in the Tigers net, making 35 saves on the night.

Dalhousie scored the lone goal of the first period at the 10:19 mark. Sarah Robichaud made a nice move to get to the net but could not beat X-Women goaltender Sojung Shin. Laura Brooks followed the play up and was able to clean up the rebound.

The Tigers took a 2-0 lead early in the second as Kayla Ogilvie ripped a shot from the point that hit the post and went in. The goal was Olgivie's first in her AUS career.

Bianca Canade added another tally for the Tigers before the end of the second period. Despite holding a 3-0 lead after two periods of play the Tigers were outplayed and outshot by the X-Women. The Tigers only had 10 shots on net through two periods while the X-Women had 24.

StFX made a goalie change to start the third period as Pascale Daigle came in for relief of Shin.

Kara Power got the X-Women on the board in the third period with an unassisted tally at 7:54, spoiling Jessica Severeyns' shutout bid.

The X-Women continued to press late but Severeyns shut the door leading the Tigers to victory with 35 saves on the night.

The sixth place Tigers (8-13-1) have one regular season game remaining against first place Moncton (15-6-1) on Sunday at the Halifax Forum.
