Charlottetown, PEI – The CIS ranked No. 9 StFX X-Women overcame a 3-0 third period deficit and skated to a 4-3 double overtime victory over the UPEI Panthers Friday night in AUS hockey action.

Daley Oddy (Cranbrook, BC) scored unassisted 2:57 into the second overtime frame to seal the come-from-behind win.

After a collision inside the UPEI blue line between an X-Women and Panthers player that left each side a body down during the three-on-three overtime play, Oddy skated in and placed a shot on net. After Panthers goalie Marie-Soleil Deschenes (Ile-Perot, QC) made the original save, the puck bounced up and over and crossed the goal line.

The goal capped off a flurry of overtime chances for the X-Women who had two power play opportunities after consecutive penalties by Kiana Strand (Invermere, BC ). StFX outshot the Panthers 10-1 over the two overtime frames and a lopsided 50-25 in the game.

The X-Women scored three unanswered third period goals to send the game into overtime.

Subway player of the game Emily Power (Airdrie, AB) notched the first X goal at the eight minute mark of the third period with Sarah Bujold (Riverview, NB) and Schyler Campbell (Galloway, NB) assisting.

Just a minute and a half later Jenna MacDonald (Osgoode, ON) scored from Connor Garagan (Fredericton, NB) and Heather Tillsley (Aurora, ON).

Bujold scored the tying goal at 18:30, assisted by Nicole Halladay (Smith's Falls, ON) and Emily Power.

The Panthers held leads of 1-0 after the first period and 3-0 after two. Rachel Colle (Toronto, ON), Samantha Sweet (O'Leary, PE) and Andie Boeckman (Cochrane, AB) were the UPEI goal scorers.

Sweet and Boeckman tallied second period markers just 34 seconds apart.

Pascale Daigle (Irishtown, NB) earned the win in the StFX net with 22 saves, while Deschenes took the loss for the Panthers, turning aside 46 StFX shots.

UPEI (2-7-2) will need to regroup quickly as they host Dalhousie (4-5-0) Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm. With the loss the Panthers are on a nine-game losing skid.

The X-Women (5-5-1) will face the same Dalhousie squad on Sunday evening in a 6:30 pm game in Halifax. The game will mark the last one of the regular season for StFX prior to the holiday break.
