X-Women hockey earn first win of regular season

Sackville, NB – The CIS ranked No. 7 X-Women hockey team picked up their first win of the AUS season with a 4-2 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday evening.

Second year forward Sarah Bojuld (Riverview, NB) scored two goals for the X-Women.

The first X-Women goal came midway through the first period, unassisted from Jenna MacDonald (Osgoode, ON).

The Mounties tied it up 4:30 into the second period on a goal from Jennifer Ball, assisted by Samantha Bujold.

Bujold restored the X-Women one-goal lead with a power play goal just over a minute later. Daley Oddy (Cranbrooke, BC) assisted on the play.

X-Women captain Taylor Dale (Oromocto, NB) then scored another power play marker from Schyler Campbell (Galloway, NB) at 16:58 to give the blue and white a 3-1 lead after two periods of play.

Rhiannon Ford cut into the StFX lead with a third period goal at 3:57 (unassisted) for the Mounties but Bujold sealed the X-Women victory with her second goal of the night at 4:31.

The X-Women outshot the Mounties 44-20.

Pascale Daigle (Irishtown, NB) earned the win in nets for the X-Women with 18 saves. Keri Martin, with 40 saves on the night tool the loss for the Mounties.

Mount A (0-1) will travel to UPEI (1-0) for a Sunday evening game against the Panthers.

StFX (1-1) will next see action on Saturday, October 24th when they travel to Halifax for a 2:00 pm game against the Saint Mary's Huskies (0-1).
