Ice X-Women beat SMU

The hockey X-Women played a pair of home-at-home exhibition games this weekend against Saint Mary's and they skated away with two wins. Saturday afternoon at the StFX Keating Centre the X-Women won 7-1 over the Huskies, while Sunday afternoon in Halifax, StFX earned a 5-0 shutout victory. Veteran forwards Brayden Ferguson and Christina Davis each scored a hat trick for the X-Women in their 7-1 win with rookie Kristen Ezard earning the other StFX goal. Zoe Lancelott was the lone goal scorer for Saint Mary's, who were down 3-1 after the first period of play and 5-1 after two. Melissa Murphy earned the win in nets for StFX while Jillian MacIsaac took the loss for SMU.
On Sunday afternoon the X-Women continued their winning ways with the 5-0 shutout win over the same Saint Mary's squad. The first period saw both nets clear of any goals but Nicole Hansom and Brayden Ferguson each scored twice in the second period to give the X-Women a commanding 4-0 lead. Laura Grant rounded out the scoring for X with a third period goal while netminder Katie Harvieux earned the shutout win.
The X-Women will travel to Moncton this weekend for an AUS exhibition tournament.
