Ice X-Women defeat Jr. squad
Sep 14, 2008 - The hockey X-Women hit the ice Friday night for an exhibition game against the Bluewater Junior Hawks out of Ontario and earned a 6-3 win over the talented young team. In a game which saw more penalties then goals, the X-Women established a 2-0 lead after two periods of play as reigning CIS Player of the Year Brayden Ferguson scored both a shorthanded and power play goal in the first period.
\r\nThe second period featured 12 minor infractions, six to each team but no resulting power play goals. The scoring opened up in the third period, with the X-Women never seeing their lead disappear. Lindsay Brown, Jessica Shanahan and Christina Davis hit the back of the net for the X-Women and Brayden Ferguson rounded out the evening with a hat trick, scoring another shorthanded goal late in the game.
\r\nKatie Harvieux earned the win in nets for the X-Women who will once again see exhibition action on Sept. 27 when they will host the Saint Mary's Huskies at 3 pm at the Keating Centre.
