WOLFVILLE, NS - The Acadia Axewomen dominated on both ends of the court in a victory worth four points in the AUS standings against the StFX X-Women, downing them 93-51.

The Axewomen were able to establish and maintain a substantial lead for most of the first quarter and entered the second up 21-11.

Acadia's Haley McDonald (Port Williams, N.S.) started hot, with 10 of Acadia's first 21 points along with three rebounds.

The X-Women came out strong in the second quarter, holding Acadia off the scoreboard for the first three minutes. Axewoman Mia Roberts (Victoria, B.C.) was able to get her team going again with a four-point play and Acadia regained their double-digit lead.

Despite the slow start, the Axewomen were able to break the 20-point mark again in the second quarter, but more importantly they were able to hold the X-Women to just 14. The score at half read 41-25 for Acadia.

The X-Women suffered from outside the arch, making only one of their 11 attempted three-pointers. They also committed 12 fouls in the first half, compared to Acadia's six.

Both teams began to run into foul trouble in the third quarter, with several key players having to sit for most of the fourth quarter.

Going into the last quarter Acadia held a large 30-point lead with the score at 69-39.

Acadia had another excellent quarter to close out the game. The final score favoured the Axewomen 93-51.

McDonald finished with a stat line of 29-7-5 along with one block. Going 10-19 from the field and 5-5 at the line, there was no question that McDonald was the Subway Player of the Game.

Marley Bonnick (Brampton, ON) helped to keep her team composed throughout the game both on and off the court. With eight points and seven rebounds, she was named the X-Women player of the game.

The Axewomen improve to 9-3 second place record and will host UNB on both Friday and Saturday evening. StFX travels to UPEI for a two-game weekend on the Island.
