Antigonish, NS – The X-Women picked up a win over the Dalhousie Tigers on home court Thursday evening, defeating the Halifax squad 65-46.

The win was their second of the season as they improve to 2-7, while the Tigers fall to 1-8.

StFX got out to an early 14-7 lead after the first quarter in a well-rounded scoring attack.

The second quarter saw Briar MacDonald (Antigonish, NS) step up her play as she drained a pair of three-pointers and scored eight points in the quarter.

The X-Women increased their lead to 33-18 at halftime.

Dalhousie played an evenly matched third quarter, outscoring the X-Women 13-11 but still trailed by 13 points after 30 minutes as the X-Women lead 44-31.

The Tigers mounted a six-point run to start the fourth quarter but Kimberly Kingsbury (Nepean, ON) drained a key long basket just over four minutes in to regain the StFX 10-point lead and they never looked back.

Kingsbury finished the night with 14 points, Subway player of the game MacDonald netted 15 and Marley Bonnick (Brampton, ON) played a strong game off the bench for the X-Women on both sides of the ball. She led the team with 19 points and had nine rebounds.

MacDonald also had a double-double night, adding 14 rebounds to go with her 15 points. Freshman guard Aliyah Fraser (New Glasgow, NS) scored 10.

For the Tigers, Chloe Wilson (Dartmouth, NS) was the top scorer with 14 points. Hannha Chadwick (Toronto, ON) added nine and Chelsea Slawter-Wright (Dartmouth, NS) scored eight.

Their top rebounder was Emily Holt (Halifax, NS) with seven.

There will only be one day of rest and the same two teams will be back in action again on Coach K Court in Antigonish on Saturday night. Tip-off is 6:00 pm.
