Sea-Hawks earn 56-48 victory over X-Women

Antigonish, N.S. - The visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks (1-2) made it into the win column for the first time in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) basketball regular season with a 56-48 victory over the StFX X-Women (0-3) Saturday evening at Oland Centre.

The Sea-Hawks opened the game on a 12-2 run, but the X-Women rallied by the end of a low-scoring first quarter to make it 16-9.

In a back-and-forth second quarter, Memorial finished on an 8-2 burst to take a 28-12 halftime advantage.

The X-Women started the third quarter with a 14-2 explosion, keyed by seven points from Holly Scott (Antigonish, NS) to cut the deficit to 30-26.

Sparked by a three-point play from Sydney Ezekiel (St. John's, NL), the visitors answered and finished the third quarter on a 13-4 run to take a 43-30 advantage. 

In the fourth quarter, the X-Women could get no closer than eight points.

Scott and Ezekiel led their teams with 15 points apiece. Ezekiel, the Subway player of the game, chipped in six rebounds and two steals. 

Scott, top player for StFX, added five rebounds and two assists.

The teams will be back action Sunday, Nov. 13, in a 1 p.m. start, at Oland Centre.
