X-Women lose close game to Dalhousie in exhibition tourney action

Halifax, NS – The Dalhousie Tigers defeated the StFX X-Women in exhibition basketball action at the Lawtons Centennial tournament at the Dalplex Friday evening.

The first quarter finished tied with 15 points apiece. The Tigers and the X-Women showed a strong game on the offence and finished the first half with a score of 29-27 in favor of the Tigers.

Dalhousie's Tessa Stammberger (Halifax, NS) left the opening half scoring with 12 points.

In the third frame, the X-Women worked to take the lead, but the quarter finished with Dalhousie maintaining their two point lead at 40-38.

The final quarter put both teams to the test. The score was tied several times throughout the game, but the Tigers managed to come out at the end with the win.

Lindsay Lessard (Waterloo, ON) led the X-Women in scoring with 14 points in her 35 minutes of play.

Stammberger led the Tigers with 17 points and was named player of the game, while Marcy Robinson (Bastrop, LA) received player of the game honors for the X-Women.

StFX will next play the Cape Breton Capers Saturday at 4:00 pm in tournament action.
