ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX women's basketball head coach Augy Jones is pleased to announce that local Antigonish, N.S. native Holly Scott has committed to the X-Women basketball program for the 2015-16 season.

Coach Jones comments, "Holly has been on our radar for quite some time. She was one of the best scorers in the province from her junior high days and was regularly chosen to play for the Nova Scotia provincial team. She has a natural smoothness to the way she moves around the basketball court. An ACL injury in grade 10 slowed her down a bit, but she recovered nicely in her grade 12 year to lead her team into the NS provincial championships. We feel very good about Holly's development within our program.  She is a player that can score the basketball in a variety of ways."

A product of Dr. John Hugh Gillis High School, Scott grew up in Antigonish, N.S. and is quite familiar with the X-Women program. A 5'7" shooting guard, she played minor basketball with the Antigonish Minor Basketball Association, as well as seeing time on the U14, U15, U16 and U18 for provincial Basketball Nova Scotia teams.

Scott was not only a key member of her high school basketball team, but also competed with the softball and cross country running squads as well. A Highland dancer in her younger years, she is a strong student academically and has enrolled in the nursing program at StFX University for the fall.

"I am very excited to have an opportunity to play for the X-Women basketball team," says Scott. "Growing up in Antigonish, I have always been a big fan and supporter of the X-Women program and I am very honoured to officially be a part of the X family."
