X-Men bring home pair of silver medals from AUS Track Championship
X-Men compete in four events at AUS Championship and come home with pair of silver medals
Moncton, NB – The STFX X-Men competed in four events at the Bell AUS Championship in Moncton over the weekend and came home with a pair of silver medals.
Luke MacDonald was the silver medalist in the 3000m race with a time of 8:33.43. He was the lone X competitor in the event.
MacDonald was also a member of the X-Men 4x800m relay team that won silver, along with Liam McCullagh, Landyn Cooke-Bithrey and Liam Patterson. They posted a time of 8:08.62.
In the 1000m race on Friday night, McCullagh was the top X racer, coming in fourth position with a time of 2:32.35. Cooke-Bithrey was 11th at 2:42.05 and Conlan MacKenzie was 13th at 2:48.10.
In Saturday's 1500m race that featured 24 competitors, Patterson posted a 3:59.74 result, good enough for fifth spot overall. McCullagh placed sixth at 3:59.88, MacDonald was ninth at 4:05.22, while Cooke-Bithrey (4:26.16) and MacKenzie (4:29.26) were 21st and 22nd.
The Dalhousie Tigers won the AUS championship banner, finishing with 142 points, ahead of the UNB REDS (127) and the Saint Mary's Huskies (60).
The U SPORTS national championship is scheduled for March 6-7 at the University of Manitoba.
