Track athletes compete in Moncton

Moncton, NB – StFX sent a small contingent of sprinters, jumpers and throwers to compete at the Jump Start Athletics Moncton Open at CEPS on Saturday.

Jessica Clarke (Wileville, NS) placed fourth in the 60m dash final, second in the 60m hurdles, and first in the 300m race. She clocked in at 8.44 in the 60m, 9.80 in the 60m hurdles and 44.71 in the 300m.

Also competing in the 60m hurdles were Megan Graham (Trenton, NS), who won the event with a time of 9.59, and Erin Brennan (Beechwood, NB) who was third at 10.37.

Brennan also competed in the high jump and long jump, coming second in the high jump (1.40m) and third in the long jump (4.75m). Graham was second in the long jump at 4.80.

In the men's jumping events, Brad Barclay (Coldwater, ON) came first in the long jump with a 6.35m result, and Isaac Fagnan (Bonnyville, AB) was third at 5.49m. Logan Coulet (Westville, NS) tied for first place in the high jump with a 1.96m jump.

In sprinting, Barclay came first in the 60m dash at 7.24 and Jonny West (Port Hawkesbury, NS) was third at 7.53. West also came second in the 300m race with a time of 39.37 and Fagnan at 40.50 was third.

A pair of X-Men throwers competed in the shot put and weight throw. In the age 18-19 division, Curtis Kuzmyk (Cookstown, ON) was second in both the shot put (10.86m) and weight throw (8.49m). Aidan McMann (Ottawa, ON) was fourth in the shot put (11.42m) and fifth in the weight throw (10.92m) for age 20-34.

Next up on the competition schedule is the Athletics NS Open Meet in Halifax on January 17-18.
