Jumpers and throwers post results in Halifax

Halifax, NS – Jumpers and sprinters from the X-Women and X-Men track & field teams competed at the Athletics NS indoor meet in Halifax Friday night at the Canada Games Centre.

Veteran fifth year athlete Bridget Brennan placed first in the long jump, breaking a StFX school record in the process. She bettered her jump by 36cm, going from 5.40m to 5.76m which ranks her fifth overall in the CIS in that event.

She also placed fifth in the high jump with a 1.55m result.

Mary Catherine Thompson competed in the long jump and high jump for the X-Women. She placed fifth in the long jump with a 4.99m showing and sixth in the high jump at 1.40m. Madison Nastasiuk was seventh in the long jump with at 4.57m.

In the men's jumping events, Jordan Tyrell placed second in the long jump (6.04m) and fourth in the high jump (1.75m). Jake McKenna was third in the long jump (5.94m) and fifth in the high jump (1.75M0, while Colin Thompson placed fourth in the long (5.89m) and seventh in the high (1.65m).

The X-Women competed in two relay events on Friday night. Abbi Finnan, Candace Cruickshank, Jillian Murphy and Eilish MacQuarrie won the 4x200m relay with a time of 1:45.76. Brennan, Cruickshank, Allie Flower and MacQuarrie were second overall in the 4x400m relay posting a time of 3:56.29.

In the men's 4x200m relay race, the X-Men ran to a second place showing with a time of 1:35.03. Team members included Adrian Kinney, Tim Brennan, Matt Murphy and James Lucas.
