Eilish MacQuarrie of the St. Francis Xavier X-Women's track and field team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 23, 2014.

A third-year human kinetics from Antigonish, N.S., MacQuarrie was named the AUS athlete of the meet at this past weekend's Subway AUS women's track and field championship in Moncton.

She helped lead the X-Women to a second-place finish with several impressive individual and team performances. She won individual gold in the 300m race with a time of 40.70, then followed up with a silver medal performance in the 600m at 1:38.03.

MacQuarrie anchored both the X-Women 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams to gold medals, bringing her medal tally to four for the weekend. She also placed fifth in the 60m dash with an 8.10 time.

She took home AUS female track athlete of the year honours following the championship.

Bryden Tate of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men's track and field team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 23, 2014.

A third-year business student from Heatherton, N.S., Tate was named the AUS athlete of the meet at this past weekend's Subway AUS men's track and field championship in Moncton.

He helped lead the X-Men to their first ever AUS championship banner after earning several impressive finishes. He was a double gold medalist, taking home top honors in both the 1000m (2:37.75) and 1500m (4:04.08) events.

He earned his third medal of the weekend with the X-Men 4x800m relay team, winning silver, and just missed the podium with a 4th place showing in the 3000m race (8:46.12).

Tate also took home AUS male track athlete of the year honours following the championship.
