X-Men soccer announce recruiting class

August 15, 2016 (Antigonish, NS) - StFX men's soccer head coach Graham Kennedy is pleased to announce the 2016 recruiting class and welcome five new additions to the X-Men program. Tane Caubo (London, England), Jack Eliot (Halifax, NS), Mitch Lehman (Pottstown, Pennsylvania) Josh Read (Bath, England), and William Warren (Windsor Junction, NS) will all be suiting up for the white and blue this fall.

Tane Caubo is a 5'10" forward out of Barnet FC in London where he played for the U18 Academy team and was a regular call up to the U21 and reserve teams. A 2016 graduate of Graveney School, Tane previously played with London's Metropolitan Police FC before being scouted and signed by League 2 club Barnet FC. He is enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program where he plans to major in philosophy.

Jack Eliot is a 6'3" central defender from Halifax City FC and a 2016 graduate of J.L. Ilsley High School. A regular in the Nova Scotia provincial program throughout his youth soccer career, and a competitive hockey player, Jack comes from great StFX stock. His father Luke and uncle, Chris Nolan are former X-Men soccer players and his mother, Colleen, is also a StFX grad.

Mitch Lehman is a 6'4" forward and 2016 graduate of The Hill School in Pottstown, PA where he excelled in soccer and lacrosse. A strong academic who had multiple university scholarship opportunities in two sports, Mitch is enrolled in StFX's Schwartz School of Business this fall.

Josh Read is a 6'4" central defender who played League 2 for Exeter City FC after graduating from Exeter City FC's youth academy where he was captain of the U18 team. Josh, a graduate of Beechen Cliff School, is aged 19 and is enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts, Human Kinetics program where he hopes to pursue a career in education and coaching.

William Warren is a 5'9" creative attacking player from Suburban FC in Halifax, NS and a five-year member of Team Nova Scotia, who has also been selected for Team Atlantic. A 2016 graduate of École Secondaire du Sommet, Will is pursuing a BBA degree in the Schwartz School of Business.

StFX head coach Graham Kennedy, in his 8th season behind the helm, will look to these new players to help replace departing seniors Michael Al-Assadi, Serge Dossou, Kareem Henry, Trevor Kwan, and team captain Randy Ribiero.

The X-Men open pre-season exhibition play with a trip to the USA for games against Brown University (August 25), Merrimack College (August 27) and University of Southern New Hampshire (August 29), before returning to play Cape Breton and Mount Saint Vincent at home on September 4th. The X-Men open AUS regular season play when they host the UPEI Panthers on September 10th and the UNB Varsity Reds on September 11th, both games are scheduled for 3:15 pm at StFX Stadium.
